Sherie is an Arrernte woman from Mparntwe (Alice Springs) with a deep cultural connection to the Yolŋu, from the Northern Territory, where she grew up on Country.
Sherie is an environmental scientist who is passionate and committed to combining First Nations Traditional Knowledge/Science with western science. She has over 25 years of experience in various areas, including project leadership, organisational change, communications, training development and delivery, and organisational development. This experience has been across all sizes of businesses and organisations in the public and private sectors.
Sherie's environmental science skills were developed over ten years in the mining, state government, and not-for-profit environmental conservation sectors. Her passion is combining Aboriginal and western science enabling her to facilitate opportunities to embed Aboriginal perspectives and outcomes that position Australia's First Peoples at high-level decision-making tables.
Sherie is undertaking her PhD at the University of Queensland, Investigating Aboriginal knowledge of fungi in Northern Australia, and developing commercial opportunities on Country.

Esther is Arrernte & Wombye (NT), raised in the N.T from a very early age, she learned ‘both
ways’, Traditional Cultural lore & law. Non-Indigenous learning & teachings have enabled her
to walk comfortably in both worlds, seeking how the two relate and can integrate for ‘two-way
learning’ and benefit the whole of Australian society.
Esther’s motto is ‘Lifelong Learning for All', even after ‘retiring’ from full-time work to care for her
aging mother, she continued to undertake short and longer courses to keep her skills honed. Esther
has over 50 years of experience in community development, project leadership, and organisational
change, communications, training development and delivery, and organisational development.
This experience has been predominantly in the Northern Territory Government, and Aboriginal owned and managed businesses and organisations.
